Job Overview

Task Force Protection is seeking a professional, dependable, and high-integrity Armed Security Officer to be assigned to an after-school educational environment serving children and teenagers in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

This position confers law enforcement authority under South Carolina law (S.C. Code § 40-18-110) within the boundaries of the property. As such, this role is a position of public trust and will be subject to a high level of scrutiny. The selected officer must demonstrate sound judgment, professionalism, emotional intelligence, and a strong ethical foundation.

The officer placed at this site will be expected to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and staff while maintaining a visible and effective security presence.

 

Duties

  • Provide armed security services within the property boundaries under S.C. Code § 40-18-110
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, families, and staff
  • Exercise lawful authority responsibly, ethically, and professionally
  • Observe, report, and respond to incidents in accordance with company policy and state law
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, parents, and visitors
  • Serve as a positive, calm, and steady presence in a youth-focused environment

 

Required Qualifications

Applicants must be eligible for registration under South Carolina Title 40, Chapter 18, including but not limited to:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Must have no disqualifying criminal convictions
  • Must not be prohibited from possessing or carrying a firearm under state or federal law
  • Must successfully complete or have completed all SLED Primary Basic, Primary Plus and Firearms training.
  • Must be able to pass a state and federal background investigation
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test

Officers assigned to this post are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct, professionalism, and public trust at all times.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift items in excess of 20 pounds
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate proficiently in English
  • Ability to operate under pressure and respond appropriately to dynamic situations
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion
  • Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with children, families, and staff

Experience

  • Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or private security is preferred
  • Certifications in first aid, CPR, and conflict management are advantageous
  • Knowledge of security protocols, loss prevention techniques, and emergency response procedures is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and composure
  • Strong observational skills coupled with excellent communication abilities are required for effective incident management
